Operation Clean Start Banquet
The
Banquet for Operation Clean Start, run
by Chaplain Bill & Bobbi Powlowski, held
on Jan 20th was a huge success. Rocco
was the guest speaker at the banquet
bringing an encouraging word of hope for
the men who are attending the program
and Jason Cork ministered in music.
About Operation Clean Start:
In today's society, many men from
all walks of life, with varied
backgrounds and educational
standing, run into problems and
situations that take them right out
of their comfort zone and into
the pits of despair. Men are
hurting, and some have taken the
wrong path. Some do not know what to
do. Whether on the rebound from a
divorce, a business failure, coming
off of an addiction that
ruined their lives or even out of
prison or jail, Operation Clean
Start is here to provide Christian
help for men in our community.
Operation Clean Start provides job
placement, housing, food, clothing,
and varied counseling programs
tailored to meet the specific needs
of each individual. Operation Clean
Start is a certified member of Net

Regina Borsi, Frank
Schlagel, Lisa Schlagel

Polk Correctional Institute - Chapel
Service
Testimony by Lisa Schlagel <><
I've always said if I had been a man, I
would DEFINILTEY have been a preacher.
I envied-with all the "holiness" that
one could muster-that their vocation
enabled them to be focused on the things
of God 24/7; how they got to preach the
Word of God, with God's authority and
anointment; how God would provide them
with just the right message and the
right words that someone needed to
hear. To be able to experience God
speaking through them, with very own
Words, using them to touch so many
lives. Wow. But, I was raised in a
denomination where chicks do not
preach. And, I was divorced. The dirty
D word. Divorced PEOPLE-much less
chicks-certainly don't preach. But,
apparently God isn't limited by a
denomination or circumstances. First, I
needed a godly husband to be the
spiritual leader in my home and to love
me as Christ loved the church. Someone
who would be as eager and excited about
being used by God as I was. God honored
the desire of my heart and sent me Frank
Schlagel. I still had no remote clue of
ever fulfilling my secret dream to
preach when along came Rocco & Christine
Morelli. God spoke to my heart and I
knew this was a ministry that Frank & I
could support in some way. I didn't
exactly know how, but I knew we were
willing to do whatever we were asked to
do (short of singing a solo!). We began
to read the scripture for Rocco's
message and Rocco invited us to share
whatever was on our hearts. God began
to burden my heart about things
pertinent to the inmates. I couldn't
believe how awesome it felt for God to
speak through me for those few brief
moments-I wasn't preaching sermons but
just being able to share my heart and
allow God to work through me was even
more incredible as I had suspected.
And, then, God extended His mighty
hand of true forgiveness and love when
He allowed me to preach. Rocco was out
of town and asked me to bring a
message. I have never felt so honored,
so humbled and so scared in my life!!!
I have spoke in front of groups as big
as 1000 as a nurse and never been
scared. This was different. Physical
lives weren't on the line this time-it
was much more important than that.
SOULS were on the line. And my boss
wasn't depending on me. My God was.
But God got me through-and it was so
wonderful to feel His presence in a way
that I had never felt it before! This
past service at PCI, Rocco was again to
be out of town on ministry business. It
was a last minute thing but I
enthusiastically accepted his invitation
to speak to our wonderful Christian
brothers at PCI. God laid on my heart
to speak about a study that a small
group of my friends and I are doing (Max
Lucado, 3:16). We had just studied a
chapter talking about the world and the
state of its hardened hearts. The
scripture reference and story used to
illustrate points for this particular
chapter is in Exodus, where the
Isrealites were in captivity, ultimately
released after ten plagues, led out of
Egypt by Moses & Aaron, through the Red
Sea and to Mt. Sinai. I felt like God
had really given me some powerful
words. Rocco knew nothing about my
message, mostly because of the short
time-frame. I would fill him in later,
the next time I saw him. That day,
Rocco showed up at PCI unexpectedly when
his other meeting was cancelled at the
last minute. He still wanted me to
preach. As I sat and listened to Rocco
open the service, he grabbed a small
book and began to share a brief Word
with the inmates before turning the
service over to the ministry team. He
said God had put it on his heart to
share the 10 Commandments and he read
them one by one. He asked the inmates
to repeat them. I nearly jumped out of
my chair!!! I couldn't have written a
better or more appropriate introduction
to what I was preaching-SAME subject,
SAME story, SAME scripture! I KNEW this
was God's confirmation that His hand was
ALL OVER THIS and this was going to be
an anointed service-and it truly was. I
have NEVER FELT SO ALIVE in my life.
The words just flowed. Frank pointed
out later that I had stood on my tippy
toes for most of the message-I was so
excited about what God was telling all
of us! It's a good thing I DID get to
preach, because I think I would have
popped! After, the inmates blessed my
heart. God showed up. One man tried to
talk to me but just started crying.
Wow. We can learn three things from
this one Saturday afternoon at PCI. 1)
God is NEVER LIMITED BY OUR
CIRCUMSTANCES-He can (and will) use
anyone who is willing! 2) GOD IS
FAITHFUL and WILL ALWAYS SHOW UP when He
asks us to do something in His name, and
3) We are all sinners saved by His
grace and nothing we do can ever, ever
make God love us one bit less-whether
we're a DIVORCED CHICK who occupies the
pulpit or an inmate serving his sentence
in a state correctional facility. TO
GOD BE THE GLORY!
Testimony by Regina (Regi) Borsi
First, let me say that it is an honor
and a privilege to serve the Lord once a
month at the Polk County Correctional
facility. Rocco had been asking me for
several years to come and be a part of
the ministry, but I resisted. When God
was ready for me to go, I went, and have
been going now for several years. The
prisoners always bless me, every time I
go. This past service was no exception.
The spirit of the Lord is in the chapel
every time we get together. Even though
many of them will never get out, they
spoke of the many blessings they had in
2007, and are looking forward to what
God has in store for them in 2008. I am
so humbled that God would use me to help
minister in this way, and I pray that He
would take me to a higher level. I'm
yours Lord, whatever you want!
God bless you Rocco and Christine. Thank
you for allowing me to minister with you.
Can't wait to see what God has in store for
you in 2008! |

Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church
 It
was a great honor and a blessing to
minister at Good Hope Missionary Baptist
Church last Wednesday evening. Pastor
Lanelle Pickett, pictured here with his
wife Kathy, is also a Chaplain at Polk
Correctional Institute. Rocco shared his
testimony and ministered a message about
the mission field. Are you working
the mission field the Lord called you
to? We all have talent and skills the
Lord blessed us with. Step out and ask
the Lord to use you. " The harvest
is plenty, but the laborers are few.
Pray the Lord of the harvest will send
forth laborers." Matt 9:37-38
