Cayenne
pepper is recognized as one of the most useful
of all herbs, and one of the herbs most widely
used in the USA book which lists many of the
benefits of cayenne is "Left for Dead"
by Dick Quinn, who was sent home to die
following a failed bypass operation. (His book
is available from Green Supreme.) His
"discovery" of cayenne pepper literally saved
his life. author Quinn writes that its most
outstanding benefit is its effect on the body's
cardiovascular and circulatory systems. He
claims that it is able to help cleanse the
venous system of plaque, and enhances
circulation throughout the body, and also is an
effective and safe stimulant, lowers blood
pressure, aids digestion, lowers cholesterol and
triglyceride levels, and relieves the stiffness
and pain of arthritis. Cayenne is high in
natural vitamins, especially C, many of the B
vitamins, and beta carotene, plus the minerals
zinc, calcium, iron and potassium.
Contrary to what one might expect, cayenne is
not irritating to the stomach. Rather, it is a
healing herb, and aids digestion by increasing
the production of mucous. Although in no way
harmful, it does have a "bite" when taken on an
empty stomach. Therefore it is advisable to
take your barley/cayenne with meals.
Our barley/cayenne tablets have a ratio of 2
parts barley to 1 part cayenne, with the barley
acting effectively to buffer the sharpness of
the pepper. Also, many have claimed that the
two elements work together synergistically in
such areas as arthritis control, lowering blood
